Festival Tree Planting
17 MARCH 2022
Representatives from Perth Festival of the Arts joined Depute Lieutenant for Perth & Kinross, Alex Cairncross, to plant a tree beside Perth’s North Inch this week.
The Festival was delighted to join The Queen’s Green Canopy in Perth & Kinross initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. The new Lime tree will blend with the native trees along Rose Terrace and we look forward to seeing it blossom over the coming years and decades.
Perth Festival of the Arts also marked the occasion with a new plaque celebrating its 50thAnniversary Year, just days ahead of its wide-ranging anniversary programme going on sale this coming Monday.
Continuing The Green Canopy celebrations, the Festival will host a performance by Perth & Kinross Central Groups Choir on Wednesday 25th May during its 'Mixed Schools' Lunchtime Concert in St John's Kirk. The young singers, directed by Joe Whiteman, will sing 'The Tree of Song' by American composer Thomas Juneau to mark the occasion. The concert will also feature performances by youth music ensembles in Perth & Kinross.
