Be our 2027 Arts Advocate

Want to get involved in one of Scotland's leading arts Festivals? Put your creativity and skills into practice!

We have an exciting new opportunity for S4-S6 students from Perth & Kinross Schools who are interested in the creative arts and in shaping the future of Perth city's annual Arts Festival.

We're looking for three young people S4-S6 from Perth & Kinross secondary schools to join us as our 2027 Arts Advocates. Gain valuable work experience alongside staff and artists as you develop your skills in the creative industries, while promoting Festival free tickets for young people in your school community. Read on for more details.

Programme Aims

The programme aims to:

  • Increase awareness of Perth Festival of the Arts among young people
  • Offer Arts Advocates short-term experience to develop skills in the creative industries by working alongside Festival organisers and artists.
  • Provide free opportunities for young people to access the Festival and experience a wide range of arts experiences and see new artists.

Explore what Freddie, a former Arts Advocate, has to say about his experience.

What's Involved?

We'll work with you to create a short work experience opportunity with the Festival, guided by your creative interests and availablity. This could take place during the Festival (21-31 May) or beforehand.

For example, this could range from helping us with social media or graphic design for the Festival, stewarding and assisting with customer service at events and gigs, shadowing an artist while they’re at the festival (e.g. seeing behind-the-scenes at rehearsals) or helping with our ArTay visual arts exhibition in the city centre.

Encouraging other Young People to the Arts

In the run-up to the Festival (April and May), we'll help you run a Festival Ticket Project in your school. This will involve putting up posters, handing out brochures, promoting free tickets within the school community, and coordinating any ticket requests your friends and peers might have. A designated staff member in your school will support you with this process.

How to Apply

Email our Festival Director Helen Band on info@perthfestival.co.uk to express your interest and request an application form. We're accepting applications from August 2026 onwards.

We'll send you a short form to complete and apply. We'll let you know if you have been selected to take part.

We'll then organise a short meeting at your school to tell you more about the programme and to explore what skills you'd like to develop and what work experience opporutnities would be most of interest.

You'll get to meet Helen and some of the Board. We're a friendly and supportive group and before long, you'll feel like part of the team!
