A rare chance to hear one of the great Welsh male choirs with a proud history going back over half a century and an unrivalled record in competitions, including countless Eisteddfod triumphs.

Pontarddulais Male Choir
The choir was formed in 1960 by the late Noel Davies MBE, the choir's conductor until 2002. Clive Phillips, the then Accompanist of the choir, took up the baton and has since led the choir to six Welsh National Eisteddfod wins, a first at Llangollen International Eisteddfod and twice winners of the Choir of the Festival at the National Eisteddfod.
Fifteen overseas tours have been undertaken, including Canada, United States of America and several European countries. The choir is in constant demand for concerts throughout the UK as well as television and radio work. The choir seeks only to cover expenses for performances and during its 63 years of existence has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. The choir's remarkable story has flowered for over sixty years and more, and continues to do so with the wonderful ‘music team’, Clive Phillips and David Last. This is a duo who work tirelessly to maintain the highest musical standards, and have done so consistently for many years.
David Douglas
Ayrshire's David Douglas trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music and has performed with leading opera companies across the UK.
Passionate about community music and outreach, David piloted the Singing Doctors project for Welsh National Opera and founded the Scots Opera Project. He is also a regular creative practitioner for Scottish Opera, contributing to projects such as Disney Musicals in Schools, Breath Cycle, Memory Spinners, and Scottish Opera Young Company.
As Creative Director of the Scots Opera Project, David has led groundbreaking productions celebrating Scotland’s cultural heritage. A standout achievement is the revival of The Seal-Woman by Granville Bantock and Marjory Kennedy-Fraser, which became a finalist in the Rediscovered Work category at the 2024 International Opera Awards. In 2024, David directed and performed as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Perth Festival of the Arts. In 2025, David again performed at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, he appeared in the Scots Opera Project’s further revival of The Seal-Woman, again in the role of the Islesman. The Scotsman hailed him as a “finely focused tenor soaring in expressive intensity.”
