With Kit Armstrong (piano)

Conducted by Alexander Liebreich

Weber             Der Freischutz Overture

Schumann       Piano Concerto in A minor Op. 54

Brahms            Symphony No.1 in C minor Op. 68

The Konzerthausorchester Berlin has been delighting audiences for more than 50 years. Founded in 1952, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra gained international recognition under Chief Conductor Kurt Sanderling (1960-1977). Numerous stars from the music world such as David Oistrach and Emil Gilels performed regularly with the orchestra. It is a regular guest at international festivals such as the Prague Spring and the Athens Festival, La folle journée Nantes, and the Budapest Spring Festival.

Alexander Liebreich has been hailed by the press as Munich's most exciting conductor and a pioneer in a new generation of conductors, for whom the borderline between large symphony orchestras and smaller, more flexible ensembles comes just as naturally as their synthesis of artistic mastery and social responsibility. He was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra in October 2006.

Kit Armstrong is an eighteen-year-old pianist and composer who he began formal composition and piano studies at the age of five. At seven, he became the youngest scholarship student in the history of Chapman University in California, attending the university part-time while completing high school. Two years later, he became a full-time undergraduate student in music and science. He has regularly studies with Alfred Brendel and has given recitals and appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras.
