This event provides a fantastic opportunity for art enthusiasts to meet local makers, discover new work and support their practice by buying one-off gems to treasure or gift. The open studios aspect of the weekend is ideal for anyone interested in seeing live creative spaces, as artists invite the public in for a rare look at their active studios.
At the market, visitors can expect a curated selection of jewellery, textiles, illustrations, original paintings, woodwork, ceramics and glassware to shop from, all made by the artisans in attendance.
Step into Perth Creative Exchange further, past the market on the ground floor, and visitors will encounter 15 makers of a variety of disciplines based at the building that are excited to meet you at their studio doors. Visitors will gain insight into the creative processes through speaking with artists and seeing live demonstrations or works in progress.
“A great way to start the week,” is a sentiment that is echoed by the artists/enthusiasts who eagerly attend the Monday morning Life Drawing sessions held in Perth’s Creative Exchange. Through a shared passion of drawing from the life model, this collective peer support group has formed organically over the last two years. Largely self directed, different ideas, techniques and media are regularly explored through the practice, bringing a fresh energy and discussion into each session.
Presented in this exciting and vibrant exhibition is an eclectic mixture of work from 16 of the aritsts who bring their individual experiences to the group. The images on show here reflect how the artists have looked to capture the moment in the life room.
