Scottish Opera The Pop-up Opera Roadshow

Sunday 31st May 2015

Perth Concert Hall, 11:00

This event was part of the 2015 Festival Programme.

It is recommended to reserve a free ticket in advance as places are limited.

Scottish Opera is packing up its theatre on wheels and bringing three pop-up operas out on the road to Perth Festival. Performed by a storyteller, singers and instrumentalists, and supported by a set of colourful illustrations, each show gives a fantastic introduction to opera. A Little Bit of Carmen and A Little Bit of Barber are cleverly re-written versions of the full operas and are suitable for all ages, while Puffy MacPuffer & The Crabbit Canals tells the story of the five Scottish Canals and has been specifically created for 5 to 8 year olds.

There will be a set of 3 shows of three very different styles, and each show would have a box of illustrations to help our narrator lead the audience through the fast-paced storylines:
11.00 Puffy MacPuffer and the Crabbit Canals – an interactive show for children of 5-8yo about the canal network in Scotland
13.00 A little bit of Carmen – a short (approx. 25 min) version of Bizet’s Carmen, performed by two singers, a storyteller, plus guitar, cello and flute
14.30 A little bit of Barber of Seville – a short (approx. 25 min) version of Rossini’s comic opera The Barber of Seville, featuring a singer, a storyteller, plus guitar and cello

The trailer will be sited beside Perth Concert Hall.
